center -about 4 inches. no holes drilled at all for license plate. Same as non-truck
bumper of same years.
Aug58=>1965:"slash end": Overriders (also called
"monkey bars" and "towel bars") added to US models, Euro had same

REAR
BUMPERS
mid 54=>July1958Truck only: first year of rear bumper.
Truck rear:
Standard bus rear:
Aug1958=>jan1960
(some say mid 60)Truck only: This style was commonly called "slash end". U.S. model had
overrider tubes- also called "towel bars" and "monkey bars". This
bumper is actually identical to the mid60-65 bumper, except the inner upper corner of the
bumper is rounded out more to clear the truck square body corners. Many people are using
mid 60-65 bumpers and just rounding out the top corners themselves.
(Left pic is of Euro version.)
mid60=>1965
"slash end": VW changed the shape of the truck rear corners this
year, making them more rounder, so they could use a non-truck bumper instead.
1966=>1967 "point end", Bumper same as non-truck bumper of same years.

SPLASH
PANS
1952=>1957
Trucks had their own special splash pan. Much wider in
the mid-section
Truck
Standard bus
1958 only?. has the 52-57 seal and same outer curve, but has the later stamp on the
end like the 59-61 where it meets the bracket. (see below)
**Rumored to
exist**
..anyone got a pic?
(if it doesn't really exist, then the 52=>57 splash pan would be the correct one.)
1959 =>1961 has the 62-67 seal. The outer curve is the same as standard bus, not a
sharp corner. Inner curve is like the earlier models to clear the truck corners.
Note the bent curve at bracket.
1962=>1967 Trucks had the same splash pans as non-truck for these years, due to VW
changing the shape of the rear body corner curve on trucks..
