1967 RHD Double cab
Vin# 267095580
| Model | 268 - Double cab, right hand drive |
| Mcodes | 482, 840- Both unknown. 840 is the highest Mcode number I have ever seen or heard of and is not on any lists. |
| Special notes | Last year of the rear suicide door which was due
to right hand drive models using a normal door flipped around and
installed on the opposite side. Often confused with a Binz model.
This was also a dusty weather conditions truck which had the air intake thru scoops mounted to the sides of the gates instead of the usual spot on the lower rear corner. Other unique South African features include the 2 piece front turn signal lenses, brass decklid hinges, sectional taillights, and the special safety glass on all windows including the vent wings and the rear window. Unfortunately the last owner sold off the original engine (!?!?!?!?) but luckily kept the original dusty climate air cleaner which he passed on to me. |
| History | This truck has an extensive history. Originally used in the diamond mines in South Africa and eventually ending up as a moving logo billboard for Josie's Bar. It was then sold and the new owner painted it different colors with house paint. I traded a 59 ragtop bug for this project at the end of 2004.This bus was a CKD kit which was essentially a disassembled bus that was shipped over to SA to be assembled at their plant. |
| 05-06 | Collecting parts as it sits and waits for the attention it deserves. |
| oct 04 | Traded this for a 59 ragtop bug. |
